One of the behaviors of Muslims recommended by the Prophet Muhammad, for example, is when entering and leaving the house. We are encouraged to say dhikr, basmalah, and greetings when the feet are about to step into or out of the house. The goal is to bring good luck to those who say greetings or their families.
Quoting from the tirto.id page, one of the things that is recommended is reading basmalah and dhikr to Allah SWT, while what should not be forgotten is saying greetings when you want to step foot into the house, whether the house is inhabited or not. In the Qur'an it has been explained that:
“When you enter houses, you should greet yourself (to the occupants, which means greeting) yourself, with a greeting full of blessings and good from Allah. Thus Allah explains (His) verses to you, that you may understand.” (Q.S An-Nur 24:61)
Saying greetings, of course there are procedures, which should be done with full respect as a form of expecting a blessing and goodness. This is explained in a hadith from Anas bin Malik RA, namely:
"The Messenger of Allah said to me: O my son, if you enter to meet your family, then say greetings, so that blessings come upon you and the inhabitants of your house." (HR At-Tirmidhi).
