Dua After Azan (call to prayer) in Arabic with Transliteration And English Translation

The sound of azan echoes every day throughout the world without stopping which always glorifies the greatness of Allah (SWT) as the creator of the universe and as a sign that Allah (SWT) has called his servant to immediately perform prayers.

Azan is a call for every Muslim to perform the fard prayer. The call to prayer is a sign of the arrival of prayer times. When the call to prayer is heard, both male and female are ordered to pray immediately.

So it is proper for us to immediately step into the mosque to pray in congregation regardless of our circumstances as long as it is still possible, then do it.

O Allah! Lord of this perfect call (perfect by not ascribing partners to You) and of the regular prayer which is going to be established, give Muhammad the right of intercession and illustriousness, and resurrect him to the best and the highest place in Paradise that You promised him (of).(Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Hadith about Azan

At first, the Prophet Muhammad SAW and his companions were confused about the initial markers for prayer time. At that time, someone proposed to use bells like Christians and trumpets like Jews.

Abdullah Bin Zaid r.a. saw in his dream that the azan was made. He then told the Prophet s.a.w. about his dream of a man telling him the recitation of the call to prayer. The Prophet s.a.w. replied:

“It is a true dream (vision) God willing, proceed with Bilal and inform him what you saw and let him call it (the Azan), for he has a better voice than you”(Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Umar Al-Khattab r.a. also had the same dream. The Prophet s.a.w. then ordered Bilal r.a. to recite and pronounce the call to prayer. Ibn Umar r.a. also narrates to us the event:

When the Muslims arrived at Madinah, They would assemble for the prayer by guessing the time for it because there wasn’t a specific call to announce the prayer time. They then discussed this matter. Some people suggested the use of a bell like the Christians, others proposed a trumpet like the horn used by the Jews. Umar r.a. suggest that a man should call (the people) for the prayer; so Allah's Messenger s.a.w. ordered: “O Bilal get up and announce the Azan for prayer.”(Sahih Al-Bukhari)

The benefits of dua after azan (the call to prayer)

  1. Get intercession Regarding the benefits of this Dua, there is a hadith narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah (Ra) that the Prophet (SAW) said: The intercession of the prophet Muhammad (SAW) means his help to his people on the Day of Resurrection.
  2. His Dua will not be rejected, if one makes Dua to Allah (SWT) between Azan (the call to prayer) and iqamah , then the dua will not be rejected In Sha Allah.

How to answer azan

Answering the azan is absolutely necessary. Even when we are reading the Quran, doing wazifa. Everything is immediately stopped to answer the azan.

The Prophet s.a.w. mentioned in a hadith:

“When you hear the Muazzin, repeat what he says..”(Sahih Muslim)
